Top OL picks track and field offer

Long Beach (Miss.) multi-sport athlete Kenny Nassar spent this past fall on the gridiron helping the Bearcat football squad to a 10-2 record and a Region 4-5A Championship. Considered by many to be one of the top offensive line prospects in the state, offers were slow coming for the 6-foot-6, 300-pound tackle.
When football season ended he turned his attention to his true love track and field. Nasser captured the Class 5A state championship in the shot-put as a junior and has a personal out-door best throw of 53-10.

This past week he made a verbal pledge to the University of Louisiana to join the track team after visiting the Lafayette campus on a track and field visit.
"I really enjoy the atmosphere there, they're really make you crack down on your academics, which is great," he said. "Their track program is great and they have a great throws coach who I believe will help me reach my peak throwing performance."
Nasser is already on his way to an outstanding track season. This past weekend he competed at the LSU Indoor Meet in Baton Rouge where he placed 1st with a throw of 56-05, a new personal best for Nasser and good enough for the 7th best throw in the nation this year.
Nasser got into the throws competitions as a freshman at Long Beach and throwing got into his blood.
"I started throwing as a freshmen and the seniors really took me under their wing and kept me motivated to do it, even though I wasn't throwing far at first," he said.
As a sophomore Nasser was pretty much on his on as Long Beach was without a throws coach, but he persevered and still qualified for South State.
"My junior year I was determined to win state, and I trained and threw like I never have before and It was one of the greatest feelings of my life when all that hard work paid off." he said. "Along the way I grew an extreme passion for throwing and after my junior year I knew that's what I wanted to do in college."
Hard work has fuled him and he's now considered one of the best shot throwers in the country. A state record is well within his reach this year and with his future set he can focus completely on that goal.
