Football is almost here and it's time to get down to business. This year looks to be another exciting year in high school football in Mississippi. The MPSA kicks things off this week while the MHSAA gets things going next week.

MagnoliaPreps.com presents the first Power Rankings of the Season. This year MagnoliaPreps.com has expanded our Power Ranking from 13 to 20 schools. There are some familiar names throughout the list and some names that are new to the Power Ranking.
South Panola on the strength of five consecutive Class 5A Titles and the nations longest winning streak (75 games) debuts as that states top team. Region mate Olive Branch comes in at No. 2. Meridian checks in at No. 3 and will be powered by one of the states best pitch and catch combos Tyler Russell to Chris Smith.
Tupelo has a solid pass and catch combo in Chris Garrett and Chad Bumpis and debut ranked No. 4 in the Power Rankings. Noxubee County came up just short a year ago in the 4A State Title Game, they are ranked No. 5 in the Power Ranking and are poised for a great season.
Class 3A is represented by reigning champion Louisville as they come in at No. 6. A pair of Pine Belt powers come in at No. 7 (Oak Grove) and No. 8 (Wayne County) respectively. West Point returns to the Power Ranking at No. 9. Franklin County, who fell to Louisville in the 3A Championship Game, ranks No. 10.
