No. 9 Callaway downs No. 11 McComb 61-52

On Tuesday night No. 9 Callaway, featuring Dandy Dozen guard DeVille Smith, hosted McComb, and Dandy Dozen guard Ladarius "Snoop" White while the temperatures were chilly outside it heated up very quickly inside.
As to be expected in a game between two ranked teams this one was close from the start and for the majority of the game, McComb led after the first quarter 15-14, the score was tied 32 all at half and again at 42 all after three quarters. A Tim Martin basket about a minute into the fourth gave McComb a 44-42 lead. Over the next four minutes Callaway outscored McComb 15-2 to forge ahead 57-46. Callaway's defense was key during this run as they held McComb to only two points over a six and a half minute stretch. Deville was especially big during this stretch, coming up with three big steals as well as scoring 8 of the 15 points in the run. From that point Callaway spread the floor and made McComb chase them to salt away the win by a final score of 61-52.

The stars shone brightly from the start as both Deville and "Snoop" scored 9 first quarter points. The rest of the game was a different story however, as White only tallied 6 more points for the game, finishing with 15, while Deville proved to be a constant force throughout tallying 8 more points through the end of the third quarter and then taking a strangle hold on the game in the fourth finishing with 27 points. McComb did, however receive a strong performance from 6-foot-5 junior TraDarrius Holloway who scored 17 points, 15 of them coming in the first three quarters before falling victim to the strong Callaway defense.
Callaway's record now stands at 11-5 while McComb slipped to 15-2 on the season.
