Jackson Tigers to kick off AAU hoops season in style

The 2013 edition of the Jackson Tigers come into the spring travel team season with a bright outlook and feeling confident that they can earn a berth into the EYBL finals at the Nike Peach Jam in July. This year's edition will be coached by veteran travel team coach Lemond Roy and he has a solid roster of division one prospects to go to battle with.
The Tigers will be led by 6-3 WG Malik Newman, Rivals No. 3 ranked prospect in the Class of 2015. The high scoring combo guard is a threat from any were in the front court and give the Tigers one of the top go to men on the circuit. He will be joined in the backcourt by 2014 6-2 WG Maurice Dunlap, a Mississippi State commit who is another long distance sharp shooter that serves as a perfect complement on the other side of the floor to keep teams from concentrating on Newman. More backcourt fire power and depth will come from 2014 6-1 PG Dimitri Cook, a well built, strong ball handler who can score driving to the hoop and who is probably the team's best defensive backcourt player, 2014 6-3 WG Ed Simpson, a strongly built wing who is another long range sharp shooter, 2014 6-1 PG/WG Daniel Simmons, a rangy, athletic combo who can score with the jumper or attacking the rim, 2014 6-2 WG Denarius Gray, another long range sharp shooter and 2014 5-9 PG Edward Davis.

The Tigers front-court will be built around a trio of prospects that all bring a different dimension to the court. 2014 6-11 C Joniah White brings a shot blocking/altering and rebounding presence on the defensive end of the court that should key the Tigers defensive efforts. 2014 6-5 WF/PF Reginald Johnson, Jr. is a powerfully built combo forward who can play on the wing or on the post, is a strong rebounder on both the offensive and defensive boards and who has a nose for putting the ball into the hole. Highly regarded 2016 6-8 F/C Khalea Turner is another big strong body in the Tigers frontcourt who, despite his youth, should prove to be a solid defender and rebounder and who is a solid low post scorer has well. More frontcourt depth will be provided by 2014 6-8 F/C Aaron Epps and 2014 6-6 PF Howard Thomas.
The Tigers opened the season two weeks ago taking home the championship in The Battle of the South Classic in Jackson, MS. The rest of the Tigers spring schedule is as follows:
