Another Eason making his mark at Meridian

If you're a prep football junkie in the state of Mississippi you know that when Meridian football comes up the name Eason is sure to be mentioned. From record setting running backs to streak breaking quarter back sacks, the Eason family has played a big part in the lore that is one of the state's most storied programs.
Jacoby Eason has already etched his name in annals of Meridian lore with a game saving sack in the 2008 5A Championship that gave Meridian their third Championship in the state's largest division.

With Meridian up 26-20 in overtime against a heavily favored South Panola squad. On forth down, Eason broke through the massive South Panola line and ran down Tiger quarterback David Renfro to seal the win for the Wildcats.
That sack had major national implications, with the win the nation's longest active winning streak came to an end at 89-games. It broke a record of five consecutive state titles for South Panola and vaulted Meridian to a No. 25 National rankings in the Rivals100.
MagnoliaPreps.com caught up with Eason at the 5A South State Powerlifting Meet in Hattiesburg.
"Everything is going good," Eason said. "Just trying to make the state meet."
In addition to his football prowess the 6-foot-0, 244-pounder is one of the top power lifters in the state in his weight class.
At the meet Eason fell just short of qualifying for the state meet, he finished 4th in his weight class with a 1,260-pound total. All of the lifters finishing higher than Eason were at least a year older.
Eason competes in powerlifting to stay in football shape in the off season.
Even at his young age he's already thinking ahead to college. His older brother Cordera is a running back at Mississippi, and the younger brother has a good chance at following in his foot steps.
"Well I really like Ole Miss," Eason said when asked about potential football suitors. "It's so early right now, I like a lot of school LSU, USC, Southern (Miss), (Miss) State, Oregon, just a lot of schools."
Eason has plenty of time to worry about selecting a school the rising junior's biggest priority right now is getting ready to help Meridian defend their State Title.
