Alcorn State offers Delta ATH

If you follow high school football across the South you already know that the Mississippi Delta produces some of the top prospects anywhere. This year as no different and a sleeper prospect is emerging at Gentry (Indianola, Miss.) High. Tavares White does a little bit of everything for coach Malcolm Jones and collegiate programs are taking notice. In this exclusive interview Coach Jones talks about his talented player and the schools who are showing interest.
"He's a diamond in the rough," Jones said of the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder. "He can do anything, I can put him in at quarterback, I can put him in the slot, he can run the ball. He does it all."

The talented ATH accounted for 12 total touchdowns as a junior and they came in every phase of the game. He scored touchdowns running that ball, on pass receptions, returned interceptions and scored in the punt return game.
"Things are picking up for him," Jones said when asked about recruiting. "Alcorn (St.) has given him a written offer, Southern Miss requested his transcripts so I know they are interested. Arkansas State was here in the spring. I think it's all going to depend on his transcript."
Over the summer White has been impressive in 7-on-7 games and tournament and has began to make a name for himself as an all around player.
"The coaches really got to see what he can do in 7-on-7," Jones said. "When word gets out about the first offers, I think we'll see a lot more schools jump on board.
White has some work to do in the class room, but if he can get his academics in order expect more offers to continue to roll.
