October 30, 2012On Saturday October 20 The South Mississippi Adidas Exposure Camp was held in Pass Christian and while the numbers were not high for this first time event there were some interesting prospects in attendance. Below is a rundown on the top talent at the camp.
Dimitri Cook 6-2 2014 Guard Pass Christian H.S.
Jahshire Hardnett 5-10 2015 Guard Gulfport H.S.
These were easily the best two players in the camp and their match-ups against each other were the highlight of the camp. While both excel at getting into the paint and to the rim, Hardnett is more of a natural point who can finish or set up his teammates for shots, he displays a start and stop dribble that helps him probe and set up the defense to create his driving lanes, once he has the defense on its heels he shows a potent pull-up jumper; Cook is more of a combo guard who can handle and initiate the offense but whose strength is scoring the ball. Athletic and strong, Cook prefers to fearlessly attack the heart of the defense where he finishes or draws fouls; he displayed a solid jumper which is enhanced by his driving abilities.
Lawrence (Austin) Jones 6-6 2013 Wing West Jones H.S.
A tall rangy wing Jones displayed a versatile game, a solid ball handler who can stick his jumper with range; he showed the ability to be a high level finisher in the open floor, a solid rebounder in traffic and a solid perimeter defender.
Owen Payton 6-7 2014 Post Stone County H.S.
A gritty battler in the paint, Payton was very active, corralling loads of rebounds on both ends and getting his hand on lots of balls just out of his reach, he showed the ability to finish in the paint and a nice mid-range jumper when he stepped outside the paint.
Jacob Stewart 6-2 2014 Wing Stone County H.S.
A deadly shooter with range out to the three point line, Stewart used the camp to show that he can handle and create at times and also run the floor. A gritty defender, his sturdily build frame allows him to help on the boards also.
Lee Jackson 6-1 2013 Forward Stone County H.S.
An active body, Jackson made his mark running the floor and hitting his open shots, he showed a willingness to stick his nose into the paint and carve out a few rebounds also.
Colton Dubose 6-0 2015 Guard Gulfport H.S.
A broad shouldered combo guard who like to use his strong build to drive to the goal, a solid ball handler in the open court, he show the ability to be a solid midrange shooter.
Jordan Jones 5-8 2015 Guard West Jones H.S.
A small but crafty combo, Jones showed nifty ball handling skills, a good head in the open court and the ability to stick the open jumper. With added strength he has an opportunity to be a good one.
Brandon Ladner 6-3 2016 Forward Hancock H.S.
An interesting young prospect, a well built, tough, active player who right now is most effective around the paint but who has the foot speed and a nice looking shot that says he may be able to play facing the hoop in the future.
